Default Help Please! Washer will only fill and drain
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WSSR2070V1WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello, I hope someone can help. Today our washer started having this problem where it will fill up with water then once its full it will just not do anything. I can hear the timer clicking away but it will not agatate. Also it will not spin either, but if I move the timer on around to the drain section of the cycle it will drain. I have manually turned the belt and pulley and there is nothing binding, it turns freely. By what I have read on the internet it sounds like maybe the timer? I was thinking, well the timer is clicking away making funny sounds I've never heard before, but I wouldn't hear it when the spin or wash cycle was going anyway, it would be to noisy, so I dont know if its supposed to sound like that or not. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks..Chris

Also sounds like a broken lid switch

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to run the wires on the switch so the washer will think the lid is closed just to test and see if it is the switch that has gone bad? Can you or anyone else think of any other part that may be the problem causing the washer not to work properly other than the timer or the lid switch? Thank you

Thank you very much Bettyboop, it was in fact the lid switch. It wasn't bad, it had just been bent enough that when the lid closed it didn't fully engage the switch. Once again, Thank you!!
