Default Gibson Front Loader not working
Brand: Gibson
Model Number: GTR1040ASO
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our 5 year old Gibson front loader is not working. It filled with water and agitated a load of jeans, then the water drained, but it will not spin. It made a sort of buzzing sound (not very loud) for 15 - 20 minutes, until I shut it off.

My husband removed the back and lower front panels today and we found that one of the shock absorbers was broken. Would this stop it from spinning at all? Or would it still attempt to spin with a broken shock absorber? I'm wondering if there are other parts that may need to be replaced as well.

If we replace the shock absorber, should we be able to just use the machine right away, or will it need to be calibrated or adjusted by a repairman?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

No once you replace the absorber the unit will work. It is just out on the out of balance switch. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
