Exclamation Gearbox ?
Brand: Roper
Model Number: rax7245bw1
Age: 5 - 10 years

I'm detemined to fix this washing machine. I've taken it apart as far as to the gearbox twice and can't seem to get the gearbox out. It will drop down about an inch and that's it. I unscrewed the 3 bolts holding it in. Is there some kind of secret ??? Please help. Thank you.

Hi,

Did you remove the agitator from inside the tub?
The agitator is bolted to the top of the gearbox shaft.

Do you need to remove the motor first?

Arrow Do you need to remove the motor first?

Can you just remove the 3 gearbox bolts and the one on the agitator to remove the gearbox? Or do you need to remove or loosen the motor also?

Hi,

You would not have to remove the motor, but it's a lot easy to take the motor off to remove some weight.

There motor is held on with two clips.

Thanks for all the great help. I keep seeming to run into one problem after another though. I took the gearbox out and thought to myself, I f I open it up I may never get it back togather, so I let it alone and put everything back togather and threw a load of wash in. Started washing fine and it only had a real faint smell and only for a few minutes. I thought GREAT, it's fixed !!! Then I had the same problem that I've seen on there too many times. On the final drain cycle it wouldn't drain. I read other posts and cheched the coupling, wasn't that, bypassed the switch but when I bypassed it, it still didn't do anything. Now what? Any sugestions?
