Default Ge washer basket loose
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: wwre524od
Age: 1 - 4 years

It appears that the basket is loose from the washer. From a parts list it looks like it might be the hub nut or locking ring. Grinding noise and severe vibration.
How do I remove the agitator to get to the hub nut?
Thanks

Yes you will have to remove the agitator to get to the hub nut.

It sound like you may have a bad tub bearing.

Here is a link to your washer model wwre5240d.

For a more detailed breakdown of your washer you will need the last three digit of your model number.
