Default GE Spin while Agitating
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: wpsq3120t8aa
Age: 5 - 10 years

I've read here and on other forums that the inner tub should not be spinning while the washer is agitating. What isn't clear to me is how much spin is too much.

The inner tub of my GE only moves about an inch (1") at the outer diameter for each agitation. This doesn't seem like a whole bunch.

Should there be absolutely no motion of the inner tub relative to the outer tub? Is some expected?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

(Background: I've got a leak at the trans seal but want to do the transmission/brake at the same time if it's necessary.)

It is normal for the inner tub to move and about an inch is fine.

If the tub was doing a full circle this would cause a problem.

The break is a part of the transmission so if the break failed the transmission would have to be replaced.

Here is a link to your washer model wpsq3120t8aa.
