I have a GE top load washer model # s4200b1ww...I have NO idea how old? 2-5 yrs?

Earlier today I overloaded it with a comforter (yeah dumb I know)
and it quit agitating OR spinning. After doing some reasearch and troubleshooting online...
I discovered the retaining clip under the clutch (under the motor) popped off and the clutch slid down the rod. I realigned the clutch, slid it back into placed, and replaced the clip, but it keeps popping off everytime the machine goes into the wash cycle.
Why would the clutch keep slipping down the rod, why would the retaining clip keep popping off?
TIA

Those clips are not to be reused, yours is streched out, just buy a new clip
