Question Frontloading washer won't final spin fast
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.29042992
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi--
The washer will start, fill with water, spin the clothes in the normal washing process, drain the water, but will not final spin. The clothes are soaked but the water is completely drained. I put the washer on a cycle without any clothing and it did fine until the end where it just stops before the final spin, as if the clothes would be done. This has only happened in the last two months. Is there a speed control motor issue or something else. If you can provide a part number or a website with any specific answer I would appreciate it. I've been trying to find detailed answers but haven't found the cause.
Thanks!

If you select the spin only will it go into a full spin?

Check to make sure the door is locking.

The door locks just fine. Is it possible its the speed motor control board? That's what I've researched so far. The other spin cycles are fine but when it gets to the final cycle to get most of the water out of the clothes, the buzzer alarms and to wash seems to be over. It basically skips the final cycle.

If the washer will not spin at full speed on any cycle check the motor.

To check the motor you will have to check the resistance of the windings.

The resistance between terminals 3 and 4 should be 0.37 ohms.

The resistance between terminals 5 and 6 should be less than 5 ohms.

The resistance between terminals 1 and 2 should be 135 ohms.

The resistance between terminals 7 and 8 should be less than 1 ohm.

If the motor check out fine it is likely the speed control.

I have a question for you. Have you watched it go through the cycles, and see it skip the cycle? Here"s what I think you need to check before you jump the gun and spend money on replacing boards. Unplug the washer, and take the access panel off the front, and just about in the center, on the bottom is the pump. Unscrew the pump cover, and see if it is all clogged up. This is usually the problem if a product doesn't drain well. Also put it in the spin, and drain cycle only, and see if it gets up to speed, it should hit full speed around the 6 minute mark.
