Default Front load door leak
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH5500BWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My problem is a water leak in the front door of my Maytag Neptune WM. This is a front loading machine. Upon inspection I found that the water was leaking into the door through the grommet seal for the vent tube. The grommet was hard and lots of build up. I ordered a new grommet and vent tube assembly and installed this morning. After starting the cycle the machine leaked again. I dismanted the door and saw water still all around the interior of the door coming from the grommet and vent tube junction.

Did I need to prep the grommet seal in anyway before installing the new one? Any suggestions as to why it still is leaking?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

It starting running out the door on to the floor. It is a steady stream once the water level reachs a height above the grommet.

You either have a fill valve that is not shutting off or the pressure switch is faulty.

The water level is to high.

Are you saying the water level should never get above the grommet? It is on the very bottom of the door.

Thanks

Thanks

The water level should not come up to the door.

If you are someone how is handy there is no reason why you would not be able to replace either one of these parts.

How do I determine if it is the fill valve or the pressure switch?

Thanks

Just so I am clear. On a front load washer the water level is not suppose to rise above the lower door line?

Thanks again.

To check and see if the fill valve is working right start the washer and let it fill a little.

In the middle of the fill shut the washer off.

If the water stops coming in to the washer the fill valve is fine.

Check the air line to the pressure switch and make sure it is not blocked or kinked.

The pressure switch is a two level pressure switch.

The low level contacts provide a path for a 24 volt DC sensing circuit.

The high level contacts provide an electrical path for 110 volts AC to the water valve relays on the board.

Another sensor on the board monitors the high level circuit to determine when the high level is reached and the circuit is opened.

This shuts the water valve relays off.

You will have to test with a multimeter.
