Default Frigidaire Washer Won't Drain
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: GLWS1233AS1
Age: 5 - 10 years

My washer won't drain. This started off as an intermitent problem, but now it won't drain at all on any cycle. I figured it was probably the pump, so I took the pump out and ran voltage across it, and it works. I now think that the problem is that the timer isn't sending voltage to the pump when it's supposed to. I just want to make sure that there isn't something else that I'm missing before buying a new timer. Thanks for the help.

Big B the first thing you want to do is unplug the washer, and put your meter on volts, and stick each end into the molex plug that goes to the pump. What we are doing is checking voltage to the pump. Plug the washer back in, and turn the timer to drain, and if the timer is good, you will get 120 volts coming to the pump. My other question is, Is the motor running when you ask for spin? If not it could be a lid switch. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default Lid Lock Switch

I jumped across the two wires that go to the lid lock switch, and voila, it works. This seems like a superfolous safety feature to me, so I think I have myself a perminant repair at no cost other than a shrink to fit wire coupler. Thanks for the help!!!

Good job, the only thing the lid switch is there for, is if little johnny wants to stick his arm in the washer while it is spinning, If you don't have a little johnny, your it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
