Default Frigidaire no final spin
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FWT647GHS0
Age: 5 - 10 years

This washer has been operating fine until recently the bearing seal leaked and left us with black marks on the laundry and very loud final spins. After the "factory authorized" repairman left me with a half completed project (changed out the rear tub/bearing assembly-with a hammer! Then decided midway through that he had better things to do and left) I finished by constructing my own "bearing installer" (a piece of all-thread, a washer, a nut, a 1 5/16" impact socket, and a 15mm wrench) and pulling the inner drum shaft through the bearing. I then had to file the end of the shaft for approximately 1 1/2 hours to repair the damage done by the hammer (and the idiot attached to it). After installing the pulley and the belt, reconnecting the water hoses, and the drain hose I through in some dirty laundry and some detergent and started the regular wash cycle. It seemed to be normal until it came to the final high speed spin cycle. All it did was tumble the clothes back and forth slowly. When the cycle finally ended, the clothes were still soaked. I tried the various different cycles to see if the final high speed spin cycle worked on any of those, and it didn't. Do you think something was damaged in the midst of the other repair that was made, or is this the "5th Horse of the Apocolypse" trying to tell me something?

It sounds to me like it is the motor control board. If you take the back off the washer, you will see it on the right hand side. The part # is 134149220 If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I took the back off and found the control card on the left side of the unit. I took the schematics and followed through to the troubleshooting tips. I got out my Fluke multimeter to do a little testing and discovered it was dead. I replaced the battery with a known fully charged one and the meter was still dead. Called Fluke, they said they don't repair them, they just replace them-for $110. I knew then that the situation wouldn't get any better, so I made the decision to terminate the project. I am now in the market for a new washer and dryer. thanks again for your help.
