Default Fills and drains but No Spin
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: GLTF1040AS0
Age: 1 - 4 years

This is the 3rd time this less than 4 year old machine has broken down on me! I heard a loud noise while I was in the shower. Wife says the washing machine is possessed to which I replied, no dear, it was the thunder. I found the machine refusing to finish the spin cycle. To make a long story short, found chunks of back shell plastic (p/N 131468200) lying at the bottom of the machine, when I took the back panel off. I’ve placed the pieces in their 3 respective places, with the help of 2 part epoxy. The machine fills up, but won’t spin and the timer doesn’t budge either. Followed the technician’s diagnostic and haven’t gotten anywhere. I asked my Electronics technician buddy to help me and he was stumped too. I’ve checked the dispensing drawer sensor (P/N 131505901) and door lock switch (P/N 131763200) continuity and they seem to be working, but no power to the control board. I’m suspecting the timer switch or control board but I don’t want to spend another dime on this bucket of trouble. HELP me oh mighty guru of appliances.

What were the black plastic piece from part number 131468200.

This part number would not go in the system.

No black pieces. The back shell is grey where the 3 pieces were broken off of. The P/N is from the exploded view of the parts list from the Frigidaire's web site. I don't think the back shell is the problem now. How do I make sure which part needs to be replaced? The door lock switch, timer, control board, the pump etc...

Sheila,
Yes. It's item 22, the back shell. Three reletively small pices broke off in the area where number 3 is shown, in the exploded view. I think the 3 legged frame of the tub, item 16, buckled and hit the back shell while it was spining fast. But I think the shell is fixed and it is not the problem. I suspect the timer or control board. How do I test them so I can order the right part?

Thanks
Yselfer

I do not have the service information on this washer but you may find a tech sheet in the control panel.

I would suspect the controller over the timer.

The timer is just a few set of contacts and the washer would work in one of the other cycle if one cycle was not working.
