Default Electronic control is faulty
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WBSE2090A0WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My GE washer will stop in the middle of a cycle. Initially, I thought there was corrosion on the cycle selector....I would rotate the cycle selector 360degrees and press start button and cycle would resume. Now, in addition to stopping frequently, I notice the water temp selector has problems. Moving the selector within the cold/cold range causes the water to switch from warm to hot and then to cold and then while filling, the machine very frequently stops. Using a different temperature combination decreases the frequency the machine will stop but it still stops in the middle of a cycle. When the machine was running fine, I tapped gently on the top of the machine (above the electronic housing) and the machine stopped. It seems to me that the control assembly has problems (if this houses the electronic microprocessor), (part # PS269907 from parts select). Moving the cycle selector ever so little causes the machine to stop.

It has been posted that this is easy to replace but I do not want to purchase a $100 item if there is another problem.

Thanks

It does sound like the control is causing the problem.

Open the control panel and check to see if there are any loose wires.

If all the wire are tight replace the control.

Here is a link to your washer model WBSE2090A0WW.

Thanks. I had found the controller part number......it appears to be PS269907, The Control ASM or Control Assembly.

On your site, someone had replaced one and had said all it takes is nut driver and screw driver.

I'll remove the control panel and make sure the wires, connections are good.
