Default Duet Whirlpool washer, door locked can't close door
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GHW9300PW4
Age: 1 - 4 years

Model: GHW9300PW4
Whirlpool Duet Stacked

My washer went into a spin cycle and started bouncing and thumping. It had walked its' way about a foot by the time I got there and instead of pushing the Cancel button, I tried to slide the washer back into place. When I did the door opened and the unit stopped.

Now I can't get the door closed. The lock mechanism is in the closed position like the door should be locked. I have tried depressing the door switch and setting the washer on "Drain/Spin" and letting it spin and run for a few minutes. I can hear the lock mechanism act like it kicks in and the Door Lock light lights up. When I press cancel, I can hear it try to unlock the door and the Door Lock light goes out, but the mechanism does not clear for me to close the door....

Help...Is there a reset?

There is a manual release for the door lock.

Unplug the washer.

Remove the bottom panel.

Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.

Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.

Gently pull the tab down about 1/4" or until a click is heard.

You may have to replace the door switch assembly.

Here is a link to your washer model GHW9300PW4.
