Default Drum Rubbing on Cover
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LA9200
Age: More than 10 years

I have replaced the tub stem seal & hub assembly (PS65335) and the tub bearing (PS60151). No leaks, but the inner tub will not spin during spin cycle and motor smells hot. Manually turned transmission and the top of the inner tub is rubbing against the bottom of the tub cover. It appears the inner tub is not seated properly and extends too high out of the outer tub, thus causing the rub on the cover. I disassembled, checking that the bearing was properly seated on the stem and the tub seal was snug. Still rubs. Any advice? Is there a trick to mounting the seal or bearing so they are properly seated? Did I purchase the correct tub seal kit and bearing kit?

You have ordered the proper stem seal and hub assembly (ps65335) and the tub bearing (ps60151).

Is the hub snug against the tub?

If not loosen set screw and push down as far as you can. Make certain that the set screw is good and tight.
