Default Drive Belt/Pulley Alignment Problem
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.29042992
Age: 5 - 10 years

Flat belt that spins the drum (front loader washer) came off (1st time in over 7 years). Put it back on since no signs of substantial wear or defect. Discovered pulleys (ridged on drive motor, and large flat aluminum driven pulley on the clothes drum shaft) are not well aligned. Belt runs approximately 25% off the pulley on the inside (toward the drum). No sign of anything having moved, but rubber stains/marks on the flat driven pulley lead me to suspect that the belt ran in proper position on it in the past.

Have noticed in the recent past that the washer is much louder than it had been particularly when in the fast spin mode.

Bearings going out? I see no other sign of this being the case. Could the drum shaft have moved toward the back of the machine any other way?

Drive pulley on motor appears to just be pressed on. Should I use a puller to move it out further on the shaft? Presently the shaft only comes through the pulley about 3/4 of the pulley width.

Any experienced insight will be most appreciated.

I've had to replace ken frontloader tub bearings on younger ones than yours.
so when the bearings get worse, you'll loose high speed spin, and then you'll have to replace them for sure. the slight wobble could cause the belt track off a bit
did you try reversing the direction of the belt? Bettyboop!!
