Can you please supply your model number?

You either have a faulty door lock or a faulty control board.

You will need a meter to check the switch.

Check the switch for continuity.

Check the latch for broken pieces.

Here is a link to your washer model ghw9300pw0.

Default door won't lock

thanks for the tips.

the 'coor closed' switch is working, and there are no broken pieces. i now suspect the control board. what do you think? if it is the board, is it possible to replace just the affected component? (i can solder) can the machine be tricked into thinking the door is locked? (possible by jumping the contacts that are actuated by the solenoid inside the lock assembly?)

i appreciate all your help so far. maybe we can get this thing beat.

mike

I would also suspect the board if the switch is working.

Unfortunately you can't buy the components.

what about jumping out the switch to make the washer think the door is locked?

The door look is a safety device and jumping it out is not advised.

The wiring diagram should be in the console or in an envelope on the back of the washer.
