I have a MAH 4000 AWW that I believe has the same issue.
after each cycle the unit will not release the door. Also the clothes tumble slowly every 30 seconds... What can I do for a more permant fix to door staying locked after cycle? Please help.

Phil

Check the door lock enable switch in the door lock mechanism.

You can verify this at the machine control board by checking for continuity across P3(7)/yl 36 to P3(1)/rd23.

If the door is unlocked and there is continuity, the switch button is stuck.

If it is stuck the washer will tumble until the door is unlocked.

If the switch is stuck it is also possible that the door is unlock but the light is still on because of the switch being stuck.

You will have to replace the door lock mechanism.

Here is a link to your washer model MAH4000AWW.

Shelia -
Thank you for your guidence!
Indeed when the machine is plugged in and the door open, there is continuity across P3(7)/yl 36 to P3(1)/rd23.
Can you please be more specific on the parts you are reccommending that I replace? Would the 'Door Lock Mechanism' refer to item # 5 part # ps63928 on the pictoral Schemo you sent me the link of? Or do I need to replace more parts?

Thanks for all of you help!

Default Addendum to last post

It seems that the check in continuity across P3(7)/yl 36 to P3(1)/rd23.
Is intermentent...
Now it will have continuity only if door is closed and I am pushing on the start button. ( Dial is in off postion on washer ) .

I am going to go try a load of laundry and see what happens...

Thanks,

P

Did you try the washer again?

You may have a wiring problem.

Let me know what has happened.

Sheila -
Yes I did try another load of laundry and same thing. I have to pull red rip cord to get door open. I don't know why this would be a wiring issue as the washer has worked well for the last 3 years. ( well except for that odor issue that I had to replace boot thingy on ). Please advise.

The switch that you will have to replace is number 5.

There are two of them one is for the lock light and the other is the door lock enable switch.

Default One Switch Replaced Door Still Locked

So I mistakenly only bought one of the little #5 DPST Switches On the Diagram. I replaced the switch that is fartherst to the right facing the washer.
I tested the switch I replaced and it does have continuity when button is pushed in accross the terminals. So I took that switch and replaced it with the one left of the latch mechanism... Still none of this has helped unlock the door one the spin cycle is over. The door lock light stays on and every minute or so the drum will do a slow tumble.

Any additional ideas.. Of course replacing the 2nd switch with a new one may be the most obvious.

Thanks,

Phil
