Default Door lock and switch for Frigidaire front load washer
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: fwtr445rfs1
Age: 5 - 10 years

I purchased part PS418970 Door and Lock Switch Kit for my Frigidaire fwtr445rfs1 front load washer. I have removed the front service panel and part of the bellows as described in the installation instructions. I was still unable to reach enough to replace the part. Therfore I removed the top of the washer to give me more access but that was still insufficient. I think the only way to replace this part is to remove the front of the washer. I cannot figure out how to remove the front. Can you give me some advice?

Default figured it out

I (with help from my wife) figured it out. You can access the Pump plug from the front access panel. You need to remove the back of the washer to access the SCU plug. The several plugs that were connected to the old switch/lock can be accessed by pulling back the bellows and also removing the top of the washer. With one hand inserted thru the bellows and one from the top of the washer, you can remove and reconnect the plugs. You will need small hands or a second set of hands to do some of this. Also note that any plug you disconnect from the pump, SCU, or old switch/lock will need to be reconnected to the new harness, along with connecting the appropriate plug from the new harness to the pump, SCU, or old switch/lock. That is why the new harness has an overwhelmingly large number of connectors. Now that I know how to do it, I could easily do it again in under an hour. But I probably spent several hours over several days just trying to understand the instructions and how to access the plugs. Hopefully, this will help anyone else trying to do the same repair. Now it's time to get thru a huge pile of laundry that has built up over the last few days.

Default

dont forget to glue the boot with the glue supplied with the kit.
Also make sure the wiring is strapped back as the tub will hit any loose leads.
