Default Door lock of neptune front load washer
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH4000
Age: 5 - 10 years

I replaced the wax motor and two door lock switches. After completion, the door was shut unknowingly before plugging the power back. The door was locked and could not be opened. When the power was reconnected, the door lock light went on and stayed on. I tried to run a cycle of wash, rinse and spin. Hopefully, the lock mechanism would be deactivated. To no avail, the door lock could not be released. Also, the control no longer functioned properly. Any thoughts on how to defeat the lock or open up the cover physically.

Remove top cover of soap dispenser drawer, you will see a string. Pull on it and the latch will release.
There is a fix for this door lock problem.
My favorite is located here.

I think you can buy a resistor at Circuit City,or your local electronics store.
If you don't like this fix, prepare to spend around $300 to fix.
