Default Doesn't switch from agitate to spin
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: sav405deww
Age: 1 - 4 years

Washer fills and agitates correctly. It continues to agitate throughout the cycle, unless you lift the lid and then lower the lid. Somehow, the lid switch enables the correct signal to be given so that the motor reverses direction, begins draining and spinning.

You can hear the timer clicking at the time when the cycle should change to drain/spin, however the agitation cycle continues uninterrupted.

As stated above, once you lift the lid and close it again after the agitation cycle, the moter reverses, the tub drains, and the spin cycle begins and everything is cool.

Bad timer, lid switch, bad brake, ??????????? Very confused.

Tried to run through another cycle, this time after filling, the agitate started for about ten seconds and then nothing. Won't start or anything now. Bad timer I hope.

Thanks for the help.

It sounds more like a bad lid switch.

Check the fuse in the lid switch.

Here is a link to your washer model sav405deww.
