Default Do NOT pay for the Neptune Motor Conversion Kit 12002039
Brand: Please select
Age: Please select

I see that people are paying the $214+ for this new Motor & Motor control board conversion kit!
WHY?
Call maytag, ask for a local parts distributor.
Bring in your receipt of original purchase of the Neptune washer and bring in the old motor just in case they want it, my case they told me to keep it.
btw: Tell them the truth, the motor will not even start-up ;

Now here is the good part!
Fill out the provided paperwork from that parts distributor and have them file it as WARRANTY REPAIR PART, no upfront cost to you...
"The paperwork is simple, your name, address, phone, & serial number & model number"

These Neptune washers have a 10 TEN-YEAR warranty on the drive motor.
In my case, that included the complete kit since I had the old motor and board.

This did NOT even involve an authorization call from Maytag, the parts shop will bill Maytag via the Neptune serial number and model number & date of purchase.

Maybe this info will help someone save some cash..

My Neptune was the old 3000 model

Edit:
When I removed the old style control board, I found that the fuse was blown, replaced it and tried it again, it worked just fine with the old motor.
I already had a spare motor sent by Maytag some years ago thinking the noise that turned out to be a bad drum bearing.
Therefore I now have two old style working motors and one good old motor control, one good and one bad upper PC board, one good spare timer.
I will run this washer into the ground with all the spare parts sent via maytag.

Default Warranty parts

Hi,

I have a stacking Neptune the washer portion is MHW2000AWW. It's about 8 years old. THe fuse blew out on the motor board and I replaced the fuse but it fries immediately when I press start. I figure it must be the motor. Can I access the motor from the front of the unit? Accessing from the back is going to be very difficult because the appliance was basically built into a pantry cabinet (don't ask). Does any one have instructions on the motor replacement?
Once I get the motor out can I take it in for "warranty exchange"?

Thanks! Rick

I do not have the stack.
I really do not think you can repair without being able to reach the back.
The belt needs to come off and then back on.
Not sure if its even possible from the front.

If your unit is under ten years old, the motor is covered.

Simply call Maytag, ask for the local parts service center location & phone number.
Remove the motor, call that parts service center to make sure they have the updated motor kit in stock.
Bring them the bad motor and proof of purchase date to the maytag stack.

Good luck

Smile Neptune Motor Kit & "LR" Error Code-Part is 100% FREE from Maytag

Hi!
Just wanted to send a BIG TANK YOU out for your message. It showed up in a Google Search that I did about the Maytag Neptune Washing Machine. I have one of these machine-bought brand new in May of 2001. It has undergone numerous repairs over the 6 years and last week stopped spinning, clothes ruined, and finally an "LR" error code on the L.C.D. screen.
I received an estimate for repair (the 2nd one this week) in the amount of $529.49! I was just getting ready to purchase a brand new GE Front Loader (because we weren't going to pay that amount for a repair!) when I decided to do a search on the internet to see if there was any info on the Neptune (as the Maytag website doesn't really help at all!). That's when I saw your message about "Do not buy a Motor! It is under a 10 year warranty!"--I held off until morning and telephoned Maytag...they sent out their certified technician to verify that it was, in fact, going to require the 3 part conversion motor kit this morning.
Well, the repairman just left and all I have to pay is the $60 visit charge and an additional $62.50 next Wednesday to have the three parts installed--Total of $132.00. The bill was printed out on the spot and it was $492.50..., but Maytag will be picking-up the $330.00 part for FREE!
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to place the message on this board and that the Google search picked it up and I saw it! Hopefully others will be able to see your warning before they waste over $300.00 on a part that is covered for 10 years under warranty. Your message should be on the Maytag Website--since they sure don't make this warranty information very accessible to us Neptune owners.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays! LIZ

Default You MUST have Maytag Technican Diagnose

Current Maytag/Whirlpool policy is that the defective in-warranty part- motor, control, etc. beyond the normal in-home service warranty MUST be diagnosed by an authorized repair technician. What this means is you must pay for the labor costs. The problem is that no service company will will do this is because the service company must send the motor back to Maytag in order to get reimbursed for the part. The service company simply cannot offer you a "free motor" in warranty as they must wait for Maytag for the replacement part or reimbursement. If you follow the Maytag guidelines you will probably wind up paying both in-home labor and part charges.
