Default amana washer leaking water from bottom

I have the same model amana washer 5-1/2 years old and it is doing the same thing. I have tore my machine down and it appears to have a mechanical seal under the inner tub that has been leaking( I found quite a bit of sand around it) that appears to be where the water is leaking from and it probably destroyed the main bearing also. this was quite a job to do and required a 1-1/2 inch wrench or socket and a bearing puller to get apart, and it looks like this seal assembly and new main bearing are going to cost about $100.00 or so. I'm not sure this 5 and half year old washer are worth all this trouble. they don't make them like they used to!!!! hope this helps with your problem
