Question Cycle finished with Tub full of water
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GSQ9364HQ0
Age: 5 - 10 years

Go to washer to move clothes to the dryer and they are sitting in a tub full of water. Not every time but often. Setting the timer to spin will drain and spin the clothes. Timer spins through cycle and finishes at the expected position. Wife threatening purchase of new washer. Help please! I've been told this sounds like a faulty door switch. Seems iffy to me...??? Any thoughts to help?

It is not likely the lid switch.

The lid switch does not have any effect on the draining of the washer.

It sound like the timer may be the problem.

When the washer stops with out draining give the timer knob a jiggle and see if the washer starts.

Here is a link to your washer model GSQ9364HQ0.

Cool It was the Timer

Just an update. I had already replaced the door switch and still had the problem. A new timer is on order and on its way. Thanks for the help.

Angry From Bad to Worse

Still waiting on the timer, but now the washer has stopped spinning. It makes a ratcheting sound and the tub never mover. I'm thinking it's time for a new washer. I guess it's true that bad things come in 3's. Is there a cheap part to replace that should fix problem? Or, is it the $150 transmission after the $75 timer?

Check to see if the washer still agitates.

If it does not agitate either check the coupler that goes between the motor and transmission. The couple is a bout $14.00.

You will need to remove the cabinet of the washer to access the pump and motor to remove them.

To remove the cabinet take the two screws in the console out and flip the console up on it hinges.

Remove the two brassy looking clips in each corner.

Disconnect the lid switch wiring harness.

Open the washer lid and tilt the cabinet toward you and lift at the same time.

Place the cabinet out of your way.

Release the two clamps holding the pump on. You do not have to take the hoses off of the pump just swing it the side.

Remove the wiring harness on the motor.

Remove the two motor mounts.

Lower the motor and check the coupler.
