Nope - It's not the voltage.
I'm guessing that your washer didn't experience this for a little while when it was newer - worked fine for several months, maybe 1+ year - then it started happening more frequently - never finishing the spin because it's out of balance. Right?
I have some bad news for you: This isn't a draining issue, a balance issue, etc. This is a design flaw and there is no mechanical fix.
After trying many things (new shocks in the front, etc.) I discovered that the ONLY solution is to fill the washer with clothes every time and do full loads. Many owners of this washer have discovered this "workaround" as well - fill the washer with a full load and it will complete its cycle. This does leave your clothes pretty knotted up, and it'll wear your clothes out faster, but there's no other solution, other than throwing the washer (and your $800-$1100 investment) out the door and starting over.
I have this washer, and it is total garbage. I'm sorry to have heard that you bought it like I did (I bought it when it was brand new and there were no negative reviews out yet). If you look around the web, you'll see that just about everyone that owns this washer has the same problem. Maytag REALLY blew it with this overpriced POS...
BTW - be prepared for another problem: An OP error (the washer will think the lid isn't closed even though it is closed). It's a corroded lid switch.
