Question Clothes too wet after spin cycle
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAV8000AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

When a load of wash if finished, the clothes are wetter than they should be, as if they were not spun completely or adequately.

I replaced the drive belt, but that didn't help.

Has this machine outlived it's useful life? It is close to 10 years old.

Thanks,
Steve

Does you washer have a switch for speed control?

If you could watch the washer in the last spin cycle and verify that water is not coming in at this time.

Could you verify your model number please as it will not go in our database?

Default Clothes too wet at cycle end

The machine is a : MAV8000AWW

I don't believe it has a spin speed control. I can check when I get home.

My wife thinks that it is just not spinning fast enough. That would explain why it doesn't get all the water out of the clothes.

I'll see if I can watch it during the last cycle to make sure the valve isn't releasing water.

Thank you for your reply.

Steve

There is a kit that you need to fix problem, When you order it get a new pulley if it's plastic. The kit didn't do it without the pulley for me. I think we have the same unit and it gave us trouble after 5 years, just when warrenty was over. The new single belt aren't good for 20 years like the old 2 drive belt units. Those kits are availible meaning its a problem ares for lots of machines. The instructions are pretty good ,just be patient.
