Default Clothes sucked under agitator
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WWA7304VKLWH
Age: More than 10 years

I'd like to remove the agitator as some of my clothes got sucked down underneath and wrapped around the agitator base. There's a plastic cap on the top of the agitator but it doesn't seem to be removeable. How can I get my clothes out from this out-of-sight tangled mess?

Just slip a old dryer belt under the agitator and wrap it around a 2x4 and pry up, works every time!!

If you don't have an old dryer belt try a piece of rope.

If the close are getting stuck under the agitator you may find that the tub is spinning when the washer is in the agitation cycle.

This would be cause by a broken latch in the transmission.

Here is a link to your washer model WWA7304VKL.

Good job Sheila:
Yes if the old style GE washer with the cardboard back then it would be the metal latch in the tranny. I have fixed these before just have to pull tranny and take base plate out, a really oily job but doable.
