Default Clogged up washer not draining
Brand: Other
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hiya,

Ive got a CANDY washer/dryer (i'm in the uk) and stupidly washed the bath mats in the machine last night (it was fine when i did it last time!)

unfortunately, the rubber stuff on the bottom of the mats crumbled and came off the bottom.

the machine now isnt draining properly, and leaves dirty water in the bottom of the tub. i've run it through a couple of quick washes to see if it would flush it out, but it still didnt drain completely. its definitely these bits off the mat that have gotten inside and clogged it up.

where do i start in clearing it out? is there soemthing i can buy that might help dissolve the bits and flush out the pipes? (i noticed that the bits break up further when left in hot water) would bleach or something similar help?

the machine is about 6 years old, and has never been the best washer, so am i looking at a relatively simple/cheap fix, or would i be better off going out and buying a new washer/dryer (the dryer on this unit doesnt work either, im guessing the heater part of it is dead, as it doesnt do hot washes either (it gets warm, but never hot...)

thanks in advance. im guessing its time to get a new one, but any help would be great!

thanks,

wanye.

I would start by taking the drain hose off and making sure that is cleaned out.

Then run the washer again.

The dryer may need a new heating element.
