Default Button in the Machine
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MTW 6500 TQ0
Age: Less than 1 year

Hi All,
I have a brand new Maytag Bravos washer. It is the high energy adgitator-less toploader. This morning while taking the laundry out, my girlfriend noticed a small button from one of my shirts in the basket. When she reached for the button it slipped under the adgitator nub / Plate that's in the bottom. When I called the Maytag people, they said there is a filter that would probably catch buttons and pennys and things.

Does anybody know how to get pennys and buttons out of this filter and if it is easily acessable? I am reasonably handy with tools, but I don't want to charge right in and break my new expensive washer. I also can't really afford the $130 I was quoted for a service call.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Colin

So you're saying let it ride? That's kind of my feeling as well. Since posting yesterday, I have talked to the Maytag people and My girlfriend talked to a guy at Home Depot who was very educational. He was tipping floor models over to show here where the parts were and where the button is probably hiding. A washing machine has to be able to handle a button or a penny, right? Otherwise we'd be going thru appliances like pieces of toast.

We're new home and appliance owners so things like a button in the washer are a bit unnerving.
