Default Burning rubber smell (like the belt?)
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: ww334agw1
Age: More than 10 years

Hello. Perhaps someone can help.

Tonight during a load of laundry, while in the spin cycle, the machine's motor tripped off.
I opened the lid, and you can smell burning rubber, same smell as those vacuum cleaner belts when they wear out an burn.

Am I on the right track with this? Is it an easy fix?

Seemed to be happending on the spin cycle when it ejects the water just before finishing the whole cycle.

If I let the machine cool down a while, it will start - the drum turns, then you can hear lit laboring and it shuts down.

Can someone help?

Thanks

Ian R.

Default

Remove the front panel off the washer and check and see if there is something stuck in the pump.

Here is a link to your washer model ww334agw1.

Default working!

Thank you for the reply.
After I got the front cover off, I examined the belt, which was disintegrating and had flat spots.
I removed the belt, and the transmission turned freely by hand, in both directions, so I assumed it was just a bad belt.
I replaced it with a 4L32 (32 inch) belt from the local national parts store, and it worked fine.

Thanks for the help.
