Yesterday we got burning rubber smell yesterday during the spin cycle on our 8-year old Maytag Neptune (MAH3000). Today, with a smaller load, that has not happened, but my wife noted that the gap between the washer basket and the front (where the gasket is) has more than doubled over time, which suggests that something else is wearing. Suggestions? Thanks!

Here is a link to your washer model Mah3000.

For a more detail breakdown of your washer you will need the last three letters.

Check the shocks for the suspension of the washer.

Did you find out anything about what is causing the burning smell; I have the same model and it happened about 2-3 months ago, and again today? I've had it checked out, ripped apart, and have no idea what it is.
