Default Broken timer knob
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FWT645RHS1
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a front load washer and today, my wife called me into the washroom.
She was holding the white, plastic timer knob and spring in her hand.

I have looked at the knob. I know that it was capable of pulling the center shaft out but I can not figure how it did it.
I do not see any broken parts in it but there seems to be no way to get it to catch anything if I press it back in.

Is this something that can be fixed with just another knob or does it require that I replace the entire timer?

And id anybody able to point me in the right direction on getting some repair instructions?

Also, if I need to go into this, do I do it from the front or the back?
I tried to pry the front up but it just seemed to get a little looser and did not want to come up.

Lastly..the washer was made in 2000 and has fairly heavy use.
What is the general life span of these units?

Many thanks
