Default Brand new GE washer will not agitate or spin

Model WCSR4170G0WW

Used the washer exactly once after setup and it worked fine. The next load we noticed that the washer would not agitate or spin. We call service and a technician came to the house.

Technician said that we would periodically need to unplug washer and let the computer reset. He said to let it set for 48 hours.

A week later, we called for service, again. Same guy. Funny how it always works when he comes out.

We have tried letting it sit, resetting it, unplugging it and about everything else we were told to do. The machine just will not agitate or spin.

Any suggestions on what we should do?

Does it do anything?

Does the motor run?

Does it fill with water?

It sound like there may be a loose connection some where in the washer.

I had a similar problem with a new GE washer of a different model (WWSE5240G0).

Despite what the owners manual implies, unplugging the washer itself doesn't reset the machine.

After unplugging it for two minutes and replugging it, he said you had to immediately open and close the lid five times. Apparantly that triggers the reset.

Once he did that, it was good to go, and it's worked fine since.

Badda Boom Bada Bing! Thank you jag, that did it! Why this isn't at GE site for troubleshooting I do not know.
