Default Bearing Removal
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.41042000
Age: 5 - 10 years

My washer started to make LOUD clanking, banging noises suddenly without any previous problems. I suspect it is due to one of the spider arms on the inner spin tub may have cracked or broken throwing it out of balance at the final spin cycle. After taking the washer apart, I'm at a point of removing the spin tub from the rear outer housing but have NO idea how to get the inner tub shaft out of the bearing in the rear outer shell. I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track with my diagnosis of the problem but need HELP QUICK getting this apart....

You will have to remove the drive pulley and then pull the spin tub out.

The outer tub bearing is not sold as an individual part it comes with the outer tub.

Here is a link the the parts of your washer model 417.41042000.

The tub is called the shell and bearing on the parts list.

Sheila, Thanks for the reply. I already have taken the drive pully off. What I can't do is remove the the shaft and spin tub from the bearing. I even tried hitting the end of the spin tub shaft with a hammer and it won't move but a fraction of an inch. I'm wondering if the shaft is pressed into the bearing?

I don't have the service manual for this washer but check to see if there is a snap ring holding it in place.

No snap ring and the bearing appears to be in good condition.

Try calling Sears Parts and Service.

You may be able to speak to someone there.

If they can not answer your question then call Frigidaire they are the manufacture of the washer.

For USA 1-800-599-7569 Canada 1-800-213-9398.

Sheila, If anyone should ever ask this question again, the answer is "Liquid Wrench". The shaft is not pushed on but sometimes becomes frozen to the bearing. FYI, thanks JERSEYSCOOTS
