Question Bangs loudly on spin cycle for first few minutes
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LWA50AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our washer has worked great until recently. I happened to notice that the water had filled and when I opend the lid, the agitator was not moving. I moved it by hand and it started to work and it usually works fine now. The biggest problem is that when the washer begins its spin cycle, it makes a banging noise almost the sound if a hammer on a pipe until the spin cycle is up to speed. Please help

Take the front panel off and watch the washer in the spin cycle and see if you can tell what is causing the noise.

To remove the panel take the two screws at the bottom of the panel out.

Here is a link to your washer model LWA50AW.
