Default Balaning spring attachment
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LA5668XTW1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

I was given a washing maching with the understanding that the balancing spring needed to be replaced (I am trying to fix it for a friend).

Upon opening it up, the spring is fine - but it is not attached at the "straight hook" end.

I don't know where to attach it!
Can anybody help me!??

Thanks so much.
Lainey

p.s. I'm hoping to get it fixed today so I can deliver it tomorrow!!!!

YES!
THANK YOU!
I see where it attaches now...
I tried pulling down on it with the wrench - gosh, it's hard to stretch it out.
Any tricks that I should know about???

Thanks for you prompt reply to the first post... I'll go try some more to get it attached.... and keep checking back in case someone has tips for getting the spring to stretch that far!

Lainey

It should not be all that hard.

Often times the hole it was connected to on the bottom of the washer gets rusted out. This maybe why it come off to start with.

If so there are some other holes close to it that you can hook it into.

Thank you for your reply.
You are exactly right - the hole is rusted through. I suspect we'll have to drill a new one... will tackle it tomorrow!!

Thanks for your help!!!
