Age: 5 - 10 years

Washed clothes the other nite and had an awful burnt rubber smell. Went to the

basement it was filled with smoke. It was a small load in the washer so it wasn't

overloaded. Agitator was jammed, managed to get it unjammed and reset to the

spin cycle to spin out clothes, all seemed fine. Last nite washed another load and

spin cylce was ok. The wash cycle made and awful banging or clanging noise.

Not sure if I need to install a new belt, figured it may have been melted and

stretched. Not sure what to do and I can't figured out how to get into the drum

area to find out. Help!!

You will likely have to replace the belt.

There may be other problems.

To remove the front panel there are two screws near the bottom.

This will give you access to the inside of the washer.

If the washer will still run watch it and see if you can see what is making the noise.

Here is a link to your washer model MWX121REW0.
