Default Amana washer is leaking from bottom
Brand: Amana
Model Number: ALW480DAW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My Amana washer is about 4 or 5 years old. It's working fine except 2 months ago it started leaking some water from under the machine as it drained and now it's leaking a whole lot more! I'm hoping it's a case of simply replacing a rubber washer that's probably under the tub. I can't get the agitator off. How can I get the agitator off so I can remove the stainless steel tub and get to the washer? I don't have any diagram to work with, so I'm trying to figure this out as I go!

Default Leaking Amana

My 10 year old Amana started leaking just like yours from under the tub. If you will do a search on "Amana Replacement Parts", many of the sites you find will have diagrams of your machine and the rubber gasket you need to get. There was even one site that told how to get the agitator out. Been a while so I don't have the site, but as you know you can find everything on the web. Also, look for other washer repair forums for additonal help.
