Default Agitator only moves slightly, seems to be slipping
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WPSR3120W0WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

GE Profile -During wash cycle, agitator only moves back/forth slightly. Is an agitator puller required to remove agitator to inspect problem or can I just pull-up by hand, as mentioned in other threads? Everything else seems to be working properly. Thanks!

I also have a GE Profile washer, Model # WPSRxxxxxx, just like yours. Just finished working on mine. Agitator will pull right off with a sharp tug. However, I don't think you need to do that. Remove the front cover and replace the belt. There are 2 clips between the top and front panels. Slip a slim piece of metal between the two and lift UP on each clip. Pull front panel away, and lift off the bottom (it rests on2 slots). You will be able to see the belt connecting on bottom of motor in front to transmission pulley. It's probably VERY loose, and since you have the front panel off, you should replace it. Mine cost $3.00 locally. Loosen 4 bolts on bottom of motor and push it back to slip on the belt over the two pulleys. Pull motor forward to tighten belt and re-tighten bolts. Belt should not move more than 1/2" play when you push on it between motor pulley and trans. pulley. Hope this helps.
