Unhappy Aggitates fine until clothes are added!!!
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LLR6144AQ0
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our washer aggitates fine until clothes are added. After that the aggitater doesn't really turn much. We ordered the Aggitater repair kit and we were hoping that it would fix our problem.....but no such luck. It spins fine. It just won't aggitate the clothes. Any idea to what could be causing this to happen? Any advice would be appreciate!! Thanks.

Did you replace the agitator dogs? Be sure you have them installed correctly, because you can install them backwards. A good way to check is, Grab the top part of the agitator, and turn it to the right a quarter turn, and then back to the left, when you turn it back to the left, it should grab the bottom part of the agitator, and turn with it. Yes, I replaced the dogs correctly. I triple checked the instructions and everything. It still doesn't work right?? Could something be stripped further down??

At this point, I would have to be there. I would just be guessing at this time. Tom

It sound like the splines on the agitator shaft are stripped or there is a problem with the transmission.

Here is a breakdown to your washer model LLR6144AQ0.

Question Washer Aggitater Spline???

Okay...but the list of parts lists more than one spline...which one(s) do we need?? We don't have an appliance repair man in our town and we can't afford to drive 3 hours to have it fixed....so any help would be great!! When I start the washer with only water in it..it will aggitate fine...but as soon as I add any clothes....it doesn't aggitate right...it more or less just twitches back and forth. It seems that any pressure up against the aggitater prevents it from moving. Like I said before we did purchase and replace the aggitater kit w/dogs. There are no abnormal sounds...it just doesn't aggitate when clothes are added to load. Thank you guys sooo much!!!

When you put the clothes in you are putting a load on the transmission. I would think something in the transmission like the cam-agit is wearing out. Does it make a noise when it does this?
