Smile Admiral washing machine won't agitate or spin
Brand: Admiral
Model Number: WA-4400882
Age: More than 10 years

Hi there. I have recently acquired an Admiral washing machine that I am sure is far more than 10 years old. It apparently was working well for the previous owners but luck as it is known to me, first time I tried it, it filled but refuses to agitate or spin. My "hunnydo" thinks it is a solenoid but after calling around town and searching the parts section, we can't seem to find such a part even exists. I read a post farther down about a Maytag washer that is doing the same thing and a coupler was recommended. Is it possible that it would be the same thing for my machine? If not, is there such a thing as a solenoid for my machine? Thanks so much for your help!!

It is possible that you need a coupler.

Will the wash drain the water?

Can you please verify your model number?

It should be on a tag with the serial number.

Hi Sheila.. Yes, that is the correct model number taken from the tag under the lid. The water will fill and then drain as soon as it is filled, which I thought was because the drain hose was too low. I adjusted the hose and one time had the water stop draining and heard sounds that sounded like the agitator was going. I opened the lid and seen the agitator was not moving but the sounds continued. I put the dial to the spin cycle, again .. sounds but no movement. The water will drain constantly though, refill and drain. Thanks so much for your help.
