Default Wiring up a new relay
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.53544300
Age: Please select

Greetings,
Where can I find a wiring diagram for a compressor marked Embraco EGY 90HLP? I was given a replacement relay a Supco UR041Universal relay/overload combination. I hooked it up as the diagram said but when it throws the breaker. Maybe the relay is incorrect. I simply have three pins on the compressor and three wires black, red, white. The drawing marks these on the compressor as C,S,R. I realized now that I had the wires wrong. The compressor is warm to the touch and has blown the breaker. I have since wired it correctly but the breaker continues to trip. Do I replace the capacitor (which is separate) or did I really screw up the compressor?

Thanks!

Supco RCO-410 ia a better choice. if it does not work, maybe a compressor. Are you sure this was not the original problem ?

Well I do know the relay was bad. I removed it and you could shake it and hear too much noise. I also saw a burnt spot on the bakelite. So I replaced it. I suppose there is a way to test the compressor?
Is this Supco RCO-410 abetter choice why? Trying to learn... Now the compressor tries to start but then trips the breaker. Can a compressor go after 4 years and can I really change it or need to call someone in.

The noise is the contacts as a relay is a magnetic switch. Try the one I suggested I keep one in my tool box to use to check compressors as my compressor test cord developed feet.

Well I suppose it is time to call in the pros for a new compressor. I know the compressor kit is 250 I wonder what is the average charge to put it in is.

If I wired the compressor wrong, pins, C-S-R would it burn out the compressor or just not make it start?

Okay lets start over... I mentioned I put in a Supco UR041and you recommended a different one. I noticed when I really pay attention to the start. The compressor is trying to start and rumbles abit like it wants to start but does not have enough current. Could it simply be the relay is underrated or the capacitor is shot?

The RCO-410 is a Relay Capacitor Overload all in one that is why I use it. Sounds like a locked rotor in compressor.
