I also have the same Embraco EGY 90HLP in my almost 5 years old Kitchen Aid fridge, 2-doors, side by side (of course, made by whirlpool as well) and used the Supco RCO-410. I also screwed up the first time in wiring it as I could not see any marks on the compressor, like C, S and R next to the connector pins. The pins form a letter "V" and starting from the bottom, clockwise fashion, my initial connections were Black, White and Red. I heard the compressor go and so concluded that my wiring was "good". It was blowing cold air in the freezer and temperature went from 80 to 60. While loading up the freezer, I noticed the hot edge of the middle wall between the freezer and the fridge areas. So I turned it off and researched the connections again and searched for 'wiring supco relay capacitor' and got this link, http://forums.partselect.com/refrige...tion-7102.html, and corrected my wiring to Red, Black and White (clockwise from the bottom the "V" shape of the connector pins). It now runs without getting the front edge of the middle wall hot, but it does not cool as it did earlier. It seems that the overload relay turns off "too early" without giving the compressor a chance to do its job. However, the compressor seems "too hot" to touch or should it really be this hot? |
