The problem of hollow ice cubes can be caused by low water pressure to the fridge.

If the temperature in the freezer is not cold enough this can also cause hollow cubes.

If you have had this fridge for a few years with no trouble my guess would be the saddle valve.

What happens with the saddle valve is mineral build up in side the line where the piercing valve goes through the line.

Installing a regular pluming tap type valve may fix your problem.

I can't find a diagram to show you with the model number you gave but most ice dispensers use a solenoid to direct the ice through the crusher and to bypass the crusher for cubed ice. Try listening for the click and observe the operation. Either bad connection to solenoid or need new one.

It's inside freezer part of the ice dispenser, probably the last part the ice goes through before falling into the glass.

Hi Joemama-

Did you get your icemaker working?
Mine is doing the same thing...only crushed ice.
Just curious if you figured out what was the cause.
Mine is also a GE TFH30prta...probably same parts.

We were having hollow ice cubes and it turned out to be a purifier issue. We changed the filters & membrane then had to add pressure to the holding tank. If you are using a purifier you may want to check yours.

It is odd...my Refridgerator/Freezer (Evap. fan motor) and purifier both went on the fritz at the same time. Thanks to Woodchuck I fixed the Fridge/freezer.

If you did figure it out please let me know what it was so I can start there.
Thanks!
