I have an eight year old Whirlpool refrigirator, Model # ED25UEXHW00.

Water dispenser stopped working. Ice maker works fine, and the water filter is ok. Front panel control all seem to be functioning. My guess is the solenoid valve controlling the water dispenser is not working. I see that ice maker and water dispenser share the same valve. Is it possible only one of them failed. Appreciate any comments.

Try swapping the wires which plug into the solenoid at the inlet valve. Then the dispenser should send water to the ice maker and ice maker should send water to the dispenser.

If that checks out ok your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does try a hair dryer blowing where the water line is at the dispenser for a few minutes. Raising the temp of freezer slightly might prevent it from happening again.
