Default Whirlpool upright NOT freezing
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: EVL201NXRQ00
Age: 1 - 4 years

Have a Whirlpool upright freezer model EVL201NXRQ00 that is cold but will not freeze. Don't hear any strange noises. Have heard motor come on. I unplugged to see if it was a frosting problem but no water in the pan underneath. Pulled the cover off the cooling fins inside and no ice. This thing is only 18 months old. Surely appliances last longer than that?

Would appreciate any help you all could provide.

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back bottom of fridge is running.
Is the compressor motor near that fan running.
Are the coils back there warm ,cold or hot.

The sealed system will have a 5 year warranty.

Woodchuck, I'm sorry to say I don't know. I unplugged the unit and pulled it away from the wall and I don't see a whole lot in the back/bottom. I see some wiring leading to a black oblong ball looking thing that I assume is the condenser. The cooling fins are actually inside, behind the inside wall on the bottom half of the unit. When I plugged it back in I didn't observe which fans were running but I do feel cool air in the inside bottom. It just doesn't continue and freeze.

I'll check the fans tomorrow.
