Default Whirlpool side by side refrigerator stop defrost
Brand: Whirlpool
Age: More than 10 years

Hi,
our 4 years old refrigerator stopped defrost recently, we have somebody came to change the defrost timer in the refrigerator side and defrost thermostat( defrost terminator) in the freezer side, they were working for 3 weeks and now it stopped again.

The heater is good because it burned my finger when I manually swith it to the defrost cycle, is the defrost terminator bad again? or what's the other problems?

I am really confused here, I need expert to solve the puzzle.

Thank you

Can you please supply your model number?

The model number can be found inside the fridge on a tag or behind the kick plate that runs across the front of the fridge under the door on a tag.

It is not the defrost thermostat.

The thermostat is what turns the heater off if the coils defrost before the timer click out of the defrost cycle back in to the run cycle.

It would be the timer that has failed.

but we just change the timer three weeks ago, it can't be bad again so soon, The old timer which is orignally in the refrigerator can't turn to freeze cycle after you turn it into defrost cycle manually ( I thought they will rotate like a clock, then they will come out the defrost cycle automatically), that's why we thought it went bad and we changed it, but the new one when we put it on, we did the same thing, turn it to the defrost cycle manually, but the new one can't go to freeze cycle automatically either.
Can't image the brandnew part fail right way, is there any other problems? like some circuit kill the timer right way, or it can't rotate because it don't have power?

Thank you
