I have a whirlpool ed22dq side by side fridge with door ice dispenser.
The other day I open it up to no lights and ice machine not working. I noticed later the compressor is not running either but the fan is still running and when I turn control knob to off postion it acts like it is going into defrost mode in the freezer compartment. Any help would be appreciated. I am very handy with mechanical and electronics, but am not familiar with refrigerators at all. Help me fix it please.

a small update. if i unplug fridge and let sit for 10 minutes then plug back in,the compressor and fan in th back does run. still not lights or ice maker working. I also took off the panel in the freezer. It had a little frost on the top part of the coils but the fan in there was not running. If I turn the control for the fridge to off, then the fan in the freezer starts running. any ideas?

another update. Ok upon further testing I have found the defrost timer seems to be fine but still no lights and the condenser fan does not seems to be blowing unless I turn the temp control to off and have the freezer door open. It is however running when the fridge goes into defrost mode. why would this be happenning and why would the lights also be affected.none of the inside lights nor the light on the water dispenser door work. I have figured out the ice maker isnt working simply because the fan is not blowing when the compressor is running so therefore it is not cold enough for the ice maker to function (warmer than 5 or 10 degrees) but am still at a loss. PLease someone give me some good news.

Usually anything as complicated as your symptoms point to the control board. If you have one.
