Default What is the plastic insulator?
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ET25DM
Age: 5 - 10 years

I received the replacement defrost timer from Partselect, located and removed the old one and replaced with the new hooking up the loose black wire to the correct terminal. When I put the juice back on, I expected to hear the compressor kick on as the fridge had been without power while I switched out the defrost timers. Instead I heard nothing. I switched out the new with the old and the compressor kicked on immediately. I'm certain the new timer was hooked up correctly so I'm down to 2 options - the instructions state to remove the plastic insulator from the loose black wire. What is the plastic insulator? The other option is the part is defective. Can anyone provide a suggestion?

The timer may have been in the defrost cycle when you installed it.

Try turning the knob until you hear it click and try it again.

The plastic insulator would have been a cover over the end of the wire.

If you followed the instructions it should work.
