Default What the heck is wrong with my ice maker???
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: WR30X0283
Age: More than 10 years

This thing is misbehaving in so many ways I dont know how to describe it.

Sometimes it overfills, which results in a big lump of ice in the bucket beneath; sometimes the prong-y things which are supposed to push the ice cubes out get stuck in the cubes themselves and they (the cubes) cant be ejected, suggesting that they (the prongs) rotated a bit, then more water was poured in, then it froze again, I give up.

My question is this: It seems as if the "brain" of this thing is screwy. Where does that reside? If I buy part #WR30X0283, which is the entire part that is actually IN the freezer (and plugged into the back wall of said freezer), will it cure all these problems?

The fridge itself is a Hotpoint CTX24GAS

Thanks for your help

Gavin

PS I see that when I remove the plastic cover from the front of this ice maker, there is an adjustment I can make with the turn of a Philips head screw. What is this adjusting? Might it solve my problem?

PPS Apologies for posting this twice, but once you get pushed onto page two you're done, and I'm really hoping someone can help.

Red face Icemaker

I'm having trouble with my Icemaker and was looking for some repair suggestions, it is a whirlpool brand model number ET18MKXPWRO, it is an existing problem. at first it was making ice just fine and then all of the sudden, the Ice bar that controls making small and large ice cubes was going ip and down on it's own and acted like it was hung up or something and the it quit mocing altogether and now a funny noice is going on all of the time out of the ice maker, kind of a whirring running sound and it hasn't made ice for along time, I'm just now getting around to looking at it, any suggestions???
thank you

Well Roger I wish I could help, but as you will surmise from my post, I too am in need.

At least while we're replying to each other, the topic will stay on page one. ;-)
