Default Water won't re-fill ice maker
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ED25TQXEW00
Age: More than 10 years

I have a 10 year old Whirlpool Side/side Refrigerator w/ water and ice in the door.
The cold water works fine.
The Ice maker goes thru all of it's steps, except allowing water to run in.
I can pour water into the tray, and it works fine.
What do I need to replace to get it to work?
I have a dual solenoid where the water enters the system. The part number appears to be: 2188542.
Could it be something inside the freezer in the Ice Maker itself, or is the problem the solenoid?
Thanks, I'm retiree and very savy with repairs, so will tacke any suggested. solutions.

Try swapping the wires which plug into the solenoid at the inlet valve.

This way the water dispenser should send water to the ice maker and you will know if the valve is working on both sides. If it does It'll be an ice maker problem.

Ok, now I need your professional opinion again. I pulled the wires off the dual solenoid. The wiring harness from the cold water feed would fit on the tabs of the water lead to the ice maker because the ice maker tabs are smaller. The wiring harness for the ice maker would not fit the tabs on the cold water in the door supply.
I activated the arm to cause the ice maker to begin it's cycle. When it did, and called for water, the water squirted out of the cold water in the door side, for the time it should have been filling up the ice tray in the Ice Maker. What does that tell me ???? .... Sounds like I probably do need a new dual solenoid, and I'd appreciate your input once again.
Thanks so much ...

Yes that does sound like the valve is not working right for the ice maker side. I would try a new one.
